Spiro Survey Services is an recognised Training provider by all mining companies in the RSA and Abroad to present training for the C.O.M. Survey and Evaluation Certificates as well as the Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency.

Facilitators for Minerals Surveying are registered with SEETA and are holders of both the Assessors and Moderators registration with SAQA. Surveying courses are presented at Xstrata Tavistock Colliery, BHP billiton, Witbank, AngloGold Ashanti at Wes Wits Carletonville and Angloplats’ Rustenburg

All Chamber of Mines Courses (Basic and Elementary Survey and Sampling, Advanse Valuation and Advance Survey), MSC of C (All Subjects) and MMC of C (Survey and Geology) be offerd

Sperrô vd Westhuizen Sperrô is a highly experienced Certificated Professional Mine Surveyor skilled in training Surveyors Samplers and Valuators with a strong safety, health, as well as technical background. Sperrô has 51 years experience in the South African Mining Industries. Sperrô’s experience in the Skills Development and Competency Analyses arena which includes a 14 year term as Inspector of Mines Mine Surveying and a period of two years with the MQA, the SETA for the Mining and Minerals Sector, where he is a member of the TRG 2 team, responsible for sectoral research as well as developing the competency unit standards for the Mineral Surveying Unit.
Sperrô as the sole prop tier of Spiro Survey Services with his team of 6 facilitators conduct training for Surveyors and Mine Managers in the Survey and Evaluation field in the RSA and abroad.

Cassie Geldenhuys Cassie also received assessors and moderation accreditation at SETA. Cassie provides facilitation from Basic to Advanced Mine Surveyor courses and projects.

W.A. BOOTH (Billy) Billy is a highly experienced Facilitator skilled in training Surveyors Samplers and Valuators with a strong safety, health, as well as technical background. Billy has 37 years experience in the South African Mining Industries. Billy`s experience in the Skills Development and Competency Analyses arena which includes a 17 year term as Training Manager at Vaal Reefs in the Survey and evaluation sector. Was involved with Recruiting and Training of first surveyors of colour in Anglo American Corporation. Served on Anglo American Corporation EDP Training Committee. Assisted with Survey Training courses presented at AAC Central Training Unit at Macauvlei, Vereeniging. Presented Mining Survey to non-Mining Managers. Was involved in recruiting of personnel to the department. Mentor to Technician students. Lecturer at Technical College for Mining Officials who attended the N3 Mining Survey

DENNIS RAE

DENNIS RAE Dennis is a registered Professional Mine Surveyor with more than 44 years in the fields of Mine Surveying and Mineral Valuation, holding numerous Chief Surveyor legal appointments at various mines. His experience includes 16 years in the Mine Surveying Inspectorate of the Department of Mineral Resources where he was promoted through the ranks to finally attain the position of Director of Mine Surveying until his retirement in April 2012. He also served as facilitator of the TRG2 (Mine Surveying and Mine Valuation) task team of the Mine Qualification Authority (MQA) for the past 10 years where he has been extensively involved with the development of unit standard based, as well as the QCTO, qualifications in mine surveying and mine valuation. He has also been invited to be a guest lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Johannesburg due to his specialised knowledge of Mine Surveying Legislation.During his Mine Surveying career he has been closely involved with the Institute of Mine Surveyors of South Africa (IMSSA) and was elected a Fellow in 1989. He has served on the branch committees of the Free State Branch as well as the North West Branch where he was Branch Chairman from 1989 to 1992. He was elected to the Main Council of IMSSA in 1998 where he was Chairman of the Technical Committee and, for a while, Editor of the IMSSA Journal. He was elected to the Office of Vice-President of the Institute during 2009-2012. He is also currently serving as Chairman of the Examinations Board for Mine Surveying at the Chamber of Mines. Dennis has joined the team of Spiro Survey Services as Facilitator in the subjects of Mine Surveying 1, 2, 3, Geology and Mining Legislation.

Obie is a highly experienced Certificated Professional Mine Surveyor with a 35 years of experience in the gold mining industry as mine surveyor and planning manager. Two year experience in training the BPF process to the mining industry. Worked with the MQA setting the curriculum for sampling and survey training for the mining industry.
